Feature That Might Make You Skip iPhone 16 and Wait iPhone 17!

Apple recently launched the iPhone 16 series worldwide, but one of the most criticized aspects of the iPhone 16 model is its 60Hz refresh rate. Rumors suggest that Apple is working to resolve this issue for the iPhone 17 display.

Even before the iPhone 16 series was officially introduced, excitement around the iPhone 17 series had already begun. Among the most anticipated models is the iPhone 17 Slim. But what kind of display will the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Slim, expected to replace the Plus model, feature?

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) and a key source for screen-related leaks, told Macrumors that the entire iPhone 17 series will feature LTPO OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Although discussing the iPhone 17 just as the iPhone 16 hits the shelves might seem premature, Apple’s insistence on sticking with a 60Hz display for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models has left some users disappointed. Rumors suggest that Apple plans to equalize the display features across all models in the future.

Another notable detail is the potential return of under-display Face ID technology, which was thought to have been shelved. Currently, Apple places Face ID cameras and sensors within the Dynamic Island. While Apple has eliminated the notch through software, there’s a possibility that the iPhone 17 series will fully integrate Face ID sensors under the display. However, Apple is reportedly hesitant to move the front camera under the display due to quality concerns.

The iPhone 17 series is also expected to debut with the A19 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2nm process. Recent reports indicate that TMSC is preparing for 2nm production, but whether the new Apple chip will be ready in time remains to be seen. It’s more likely that the standard iPhone 17 and 17 Slim (Air) will still feature a 3nm processor, while the Pro and Pro Max models could debut the 2nm chip.

Do you think a 120Hz refresh rate will become standard across all iPhone 17 models? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
